It was a nightmare during the years of not knowing what was wrong with me. One doctor told me to see a psychiatrist. I was so depressed. A co-worker suggested that I go to the Mayo Clinic, so I finally did. I saw a number of doctors before the nutritionist suggested seeing an endocrinologist. He took one look and said I was a walking case of Cushing's. I had tests including an MRI, but the tumor did not show up. I was referred to a local endocrinologist and was hospitalized for more tests. The second MRI showed a tumor….and I cried! I was so happy to know I wasn't crazy.
The surgery was terrible and I was so swollen. I was hospitalized for almost 2 weeks. I developed diabetes insipidus, which I still have. After a reasonable time, I returned to work. I didn't loose much weight at first. In the spring of 1996, I suffered a brain aneurysm. I didn't know anything for over a month. I now have a shunt in my head and take medication for irregular brain patterns. I now have full use of the right side and can speak following five months of rehabilitation. I went back to work part-time to see how I would do, but finally had to quit trying to work and just enjoy life! I am still getting adjusted to my early retirement, even though it has been three years!

I did loose a lot of weight and the hump on my back is gone, so there were some good things! I have a new granddaughter and two other grandchildren and a wonderful family. My husband has had to go through a lot with me. He is a wonderful man and I don't think I would be here now if it wasn't for his support and love. I would very much like to hear from any other person who has gone through a similar situation.
