I was diagnosed with a pituitary tumor which was supposedly removed in 1992. I had a recurrence of symptoms and was rediagnosed in December or 1994, and had my second surgery in January of 1995. By the fall of 1996, I felt that I was symptomatic, but my cortisol levels were still normal, and I had to make a decision as to whether to go ahead with a gamma knife radiation procedure or to wait until my cortisol levels came up. I had the gamma knife procedure in December of 1995. Currently, I do not have any symptoms, although my weight is still high. (I would love to have a "tummy tuck".) In 1993, I coordinated a Cushing's get-together in Illinois, and it was wonderful to meet those with whom I had corresponded.
