This is the third time that I've had a letter printed by CSRF. My first letter was during my diagnosis and the many tests and operations from the doctors here in Rochester, NY. They even sent me all the way to Portland, OR for a PSI test, which was "all inclusive", just like all the other tests, but they couldn't find my tumor!
I got on the Internet and found the CSRF who saved my life! They spent so much time helping me. The end result was a call to National Institute of Health and I was accepted. My husband called, not my doctor! Lynnette Nieman, my wonderful caring doctor, found the tumor on my pituitary. My surgery was in March of 1998 by Dr. Oldfield (I think he is definitely God's helper!). He was so wonderful and has performed over 3000 operations!
The next time I wrote to CSRF, I was feeling great and having more energy. My problem was that I wasn't losing weight. I WAS happy and glad to be enjoying my grandchildren, and back to work too!
Now I'm writing because of an apparent relapse. I am very depressed and discouraged most of the time. I'm fatigued and have high glucose counts and high blood pressure. I still look Cushingoid and have not lost any weight. I would like to hear from anyone who feels the same way - maybe we can help each other!
I joined a 12-week study group at the YMCA to prove that exercise and diet can lower our counts. I went three times a week. My blood sugar is now 6.2 and my blood pressure is way down! I haven't lost any weight though. Recently I was diagnosed with sleep apnea (like Cushing's, it took several years to diagnose it). I am now using the CPAP (continuous positive air pressure) machine and am already sleeping better. Needless to say, my husband is delighted!
