My story began sometime in 1995 and after numerous visits to various doctors I was finally diagnosed by my family physician. My surgery was August, 1997 and recovery for me was relatively short. I returned to work part time within 8 weeks of my surgery.
Since my surgery, I have basically returned to the health I enjoyed prior to the nightmare; minus my right adrenal gland and a "few other parts." I held down my most recent full time position as a Manager of a Fleet of Cruise Ships until recently, when my position was eliminated. I am now enjoying working part time (by choice) and consider it semi-retirement. I occasionally receive e-mails from other Cushing's Buddies' some of whom are not as fortunate as I. I do my best to encourage them along this terribly difficult road back to normalcy through my positive words and also by sharing the belief that we all improve even if only a tiny bit each day.
Although I have minor difficulties that are a direct result of my personal Cushing's battle, I consider myself much more fortunate than the many who are plagued with a multitude of physical and emotional daily challenges facing them on a daily basis.
If I can assist anyone on their road to recovery, please don't hesitate to cont me. I send my love and encouragement to each and everyone of my Cushing's Buddies. |
